The census-designated place (CDP) and hamlet of Saint James in Suffolk County is part of the Town of Smithtown. It is also located along Long Island's North Shore, and served as the home to more than 13,300 residents since 2010. It was once a popular vacation spot, with frequent summer visitors like Irving Berlin, Myrna Loy, Buster Keaton, and Lionel, Ethel and John Barrymore. It plays home to the oldest operating general store in the entire county, The St. James General Store, now a part of the National Register of Historic Places.
